G05’s: Murrieta Surf Summer Classic Champions
Several So Cal Rush teams participated in the Murrieta Surf Summer Classic this August at Galway Downs in Temecula. The G05’s were the only team to come out on top and were crowned the G05 Champions in the end!! The team recently merged with another club team that joined the Rush organization. Change can often be difficult, but in this case, these players have bonded quickly are ready to start taking names!

Game one delivered a 3-0 win against the Murrieta Surf G05 Black team with goals coming from Hayden Bryant, Kyndell Hendrix, and Olivia Rivera. Game two delivered a 1-0 win against the Murrieta G05 Blue team with a goal delivered by Samantha Grantham. The G05’s had good positioning as they entered the third game and clenched the pool with the highest points. They finished out the final pool play game with another 1-0 win against the G05 Milan Academy and a another goal from Samantha.
With 5 goals for and 0 goals against, the G05’s advanced to the finals.The championship game against Anaheim Surf was a well-matched game, however the So Cal Rush G05’s came out on top with a 1-0 win. The single goal came off a throw in from Samantha with a header finish from Siera Collier! Excellent execution… championship execution!
The G05’s defense and keeper did not allow ONE goal the entire tournament. The offense made many critical plays to secure the championship, but the defense and keeper have an equally important role in preventing goals against. The G05’s truly played as a united team in every way. Coach Frankee Gardner was impressed with how smoothly the team has come together since the merge. She attributed this win to their hard work at practice, their grit during the tournament, and the fact that they have bonded so well! A true TEAM championship! Congratulations, So Cal Rush G05’s!
